Black was instrumental at organizing rapid response events targeting GOP Presidential candidates throughout the country for the DNC during the 2016 election.
He specializes in developing and executing rapid response operations and media events. A highly connected digital and field organizer, his experience brings together hundreds of social media activists to generate millions of social media views, engagement, and actions.
Black co-founded Campaign to Unload, a coalition of 50 gun reform groups pressuring stock portfolio managers to divest from gun manufacturers that has succeeded in forcing the divestiture of hundreds of millions in gun company stock.
During the 2012 Presidential campaign, he organized rapid response operations during the Presidential race – working closely with the Democratic National Committee, and Americans United for Change.
In 2011, Black worked with a small group of activists, who spearheaded the game-changing tactic that became known as Occupy Wall Street.
He also helped create the DC Engagement Table, a group of over 100 local and national organizers coordinating rapid response in the District of Columbia.
Prior to his work in civic activism and organizing, Black worked as an independent, award-winning photographer. His work focused on the effects of economic and income inequality to highlight issues often ignored in the national conversation. He did candid photo shoots with national political figures and high profile celebrities, often appearing in publications worldwide.
His work and successes on behalf of causes and clients has been featured in CNN, the New York Times, Washington Post, POLITICO, Daily Kos, and USA Today among many others. When not in the field on client engagements, Black divides his time between New York City and Washington, D.C.
